For starters, the Steam Library section will now have its own homepage. Those among you who use Steam’s Big Picture mode will find the layout familiar. Valve presented an example page that displays a user’s most recently played games at the top of the homepage. This makes the ability to jump back into recently played games easier, and more intuitive. Friend activity is also integrated into the homepage; the redesign now makes it clear which game your friend is (or was) playing, along with their current collection of games.
Game updates will be highlighted on the new homepage as well. It will inform the user when an update is available for a game, such as new characters or new game modes. Each update will be displayed on the homepage with details so you won’t miss out on anything. The other update is the addition of a feature called Steam Events. This feature essentially works as a communication platform for game developers and their customers.
Game developers can inform customers about ongoing events happening in a game, such as broadcasts, tournaments and game updates. Players can also set a reminder for current and future events via external applications or on Steam itself. Valve did not announce a release date for the Steam library update, however, Valve told PC Gamer that it was hoping for a beta in the summer. Additionally, the Steam Events page feature will also enter into open beta over the coming months. (Source: Polygon, PC Gamer)
