The company added that the decision to introduce this change is meant to prevent harassment and improve conversations. As you can already tell, this new functionality enables Twitter users to limit replies to those following them or vice versa, as well as those who are mentioned in the tweet. That said, tweets with these settings enabled can still be liked, quoted, retweeted, and shared. Twitter expressed optimism in their blog post regarding this new feature, and encouraged users to use it with creativity in mind. As mentioned earlier, the new function has been rolled out for testing to a limited group of people on Twitter for iOS, Android, and its website.
