First came out in 1997, Total Annihilation was an RTS on an extremely large scale. It had a number of features that was quite ahead of its time too, like realistic line of sight and physics. And even until today, these are not things that are commonly found in modern RTS games.

On the flip side though, it was overshadowed by other very popular RTS titles of its time. Being released in 1997 didn’t help either, being sandwiched by Command & Conquer: Red Alert a year before, and Starcraft a year after. If you’re an RTS fan, this is a game you’ll want to pick up, now that it’s free. Again, Total Annihilation is free to keep if you claim it today on GOG. But you’ll have to do so before 9PM today. And while you’re at it, you can also get Supreme Commander: Gold Edition and Supreme Commander 2, which are going 80% and 75% discounts respectively. (Source: GOG via PC Gamer)
