An exhibition match was held during the semi-finals of the mobile game’s World Champion Cup in Puchong over the weekend. The AI in question, developed by Tencent and called Wukong AI, defeated the pro players in 30 minutes.
Like the OpenAI Five, the Wukong AI achieved its ability through lots of practice. Tencent claims that the Wukong AI goes through 400 years’ worth of games in a single day. Through the sheer number of games it plays, it learns the basics, as well as unique strategies not employed by human players. Tencent believes that the Wukong AI can be a training tool for esports players. It can help with practice matches by providing real-time analysis and advice on strategy. (Source: VentureBeat)
