Foreign vehicles are required to obtain a VEP before they are allowed to enter Singapore and according to the LTA, they have received 120,000 applications to date. Of that amount, about 50,000 applicants have received the outcomes of their applications ahead of the stated processing time while the organisation assures that the remaining applicants can expect the results within three weeks. Previously, the LTA said it had received around 76,000 VEP applications as of 7 April, which is apparently six times the weekly average before the land borders were closed. Johor state authorities have set up a temporary task force to find solutions to the congestion at the Johor Causeway. All VEP applications must now be made online via LTA’s OneMotoring website, as land checkpoints will no longer accept applications to facilitate traffic flow. The organisation also encouraged tourists to defer their plans to make way for those travelling to Singapore for essential purposes. (Source: LTA, Bernama)
