The standard Galaxy Watch4 arrives with an aluminium case and is available in two different sizes: 44mm and 40mm. Meanwhile, despite the moniker, the Classic Galaxy Watch4 is actually the more premium variant of the duo – sporting a stainless steel case, and is offered in two slightly larger sizes: 46mm and 42mm.
Although the two Galaxy Watch4 models differ in overall size, both come with the same screen sizes for their respective sub-variants. Adding to the size factor of the Classic models is the large surrounding bezel which gives them a premium timepiece-like appearance, as well as additional features via the physical rotating bezel function. As for screen size, both the standard 44mm and Classic 46mm feature the same 1.4-inch 450 x 450 Super AMOLED display, while the 40mm and 42mm sizes are equipped with a 1.2-inch 396 x 396 Super AMOLED screen. Featured on all displays is the Full Color Always On function and Gorilla Glass with DX protection. All four Samsung Galaxy Watch4 versions are rated IP68 in terms of weather resistance, capable of withstanding underwater depths of 5ATM, and are also certified MIL-STD-810G for durability. The standard model is offered in Black, Green, and Silver colour options for the 44mm size, while the smaller 40mm size comes in either Black, Pink Gold, and Silver. Meanwhile, all versions of the Watch4 Classic are only available in Black or Silver colourways.
As for hardware specs, both the standard and Classic variants are equipped with Samsung’s new Exynos W920 Dual Core 1.18GHz 5nm chip, together with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Also onboard are a variety of health tracking capabilities via the brand’s new 3-in-1 BioActive Sensor, which comes with Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis features. Keep in mind that Samsung Malaysia noted that certain features such as Blood Pressure and ECG monitoring will not be available together with the Galaxy Watch4 series when it launches locally. Other than that, the new watches also come with an accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, and Light Sensor. Battery-wise, the larger sized Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic feature a capacity of 361mAh, while the smaller versions arrive with the same 247mAh capacity. Samsung claims that the new wearables are capable of lasting up to 40 hours of usage, and also come with fast charging capabilities via wired and wireless means.
As mentioned earlier, the new Galaxy Watch4 series come with the newly reintroduced Wear OS platform, which is presented via Samsung’s One UI Watch interface. Along with it are a variety of health and fitness features, as well as several innovative smart functions such as auto app installation, Bixby voice, seamless cross-device app synchronisation, and more. The new Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series will be available in select markets beginning 27 August 2021. The standard model is offered at a starting price of US$ 249.99 (~RM 1,060), while the Classic variant is retailing from US$ 349.99 (~RM 1,484).
