Samsung forum users stated that the phone will heat up in a short period of time with the camera app active. Others pointed out that its battery life would now last about 3 to 4 hours of screen time, even after a full charge. https://twitter.com/pegasaie/status/1248199585455013890?s=20 Additionally, Twitter user Dawood aka pegasaie uploaded a video demonstrating the S20 Ultra’s autofocus issue, where the camera struggles to focus on an object held nearby. Backing the claims made by the aforementioned forum users, he also commented that the phone now overheats, and displays poor battery life and performance. On our side of things, our Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra unit did not display any issues with heating or its battery. However, the autofocusing issue is indeed present during certain situations, but is not as severe as depicted by Dawood.

Also worth noting is that there’s now a noticeable delay when the camera is supposed to switch from the main sensor to the telephoto’s for zoom shots. While our S20 Ultra does heat up slightly when running intensive apps such as games, we’ve not encountered any instances of overheating while using its cameras. These reported issues seemingly have popped up after Samsung released a recent update for the flagship phone earlier during late March. Most ironically, the patch supposedly addressed certain issues with its camera and provided device stability improvements.

It appears that this may be another case of “your mileage may vary” for Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra users, as these issues have affected a number of owners but not all. Hopefully, the company would take notice of these complaints and address them accordingly via a new update or otherwise. (Source: Samsung Official Forums / pegasaie via Twitter)
