The new Exynos W920 itself comes with dual Arm Cortex-A55 CPU cores and a Mali-G68 GPU. Together, they allowed the chip to deliver approximately 20% of improvement for CPU performance alongside 10 times more graphics firepower than its predecessor.

The Exynos W920 is also equipped with Cortex-M55 which is a dedicated low-power display processor that Samsung is using to address the always-on display (AOD) mode on wearable devices. On a W920-based device, this dedicated processor would be activated instead of the main CPU when AOD mode is on which would lower down power consumption. Together with the ability to support display with a resolution of up to qHD (960 x 540), the chip also offers a built-in 4G LTE Cat 4 modem, LPDDR4 RAM, and eMMC storage. At the same time, it also supports Global Navigation Satellite System L1 frequency to help wearable devices track users’ outdoor activities. As mentioned earlier, the Exynos W920 will be used to power Samsung’s next Galaxy Watch model. If you have been following the trail of leaks and rumours of the tech world especially within the past few weeks, then you may already guess that the prime suspect is the Galaxy Watch4 Series. Rumoured to be available in two variants, they are expected to make their debut at tonight’s Unpacked event alongside Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3.
