As per the brand’s official statement, its XLR8-branded DDR5 memory kits will ship out running at a maximum frequency of 4800MHz and will be compatible with all Intel Alder Lake CPUs and accompanying 600 series motherboards, naturally. To state the obvious, those speeds are significantly higher than the current DDR4 RAM average frequencies, which is between 3200MHz and 3600MHz. Further, the new DDR5 modules will also run at ultra-low voltage of 1.1V and PNY says that the modules on its kit feature on-die ECC support. Beyond that, there is no further information about the RAM’s CL timings. Previous reports have more or less confirmed that Intel’s 12th generation Alder Lake-S desktop CPU lineup will be one of the first systems to support the new DDR5 memory standard. Not only that, it will also be the first to launch with a PCIe 5.0 interface. PNY says its the XLR8 Gaming DDR5-4800MHz memory kits that should enter compatibility testing by the third quarter of this year, with mass production to commence during the fourth quarter of 2021.
