Polygon reports that P.T was, at some point, compatible with the PS5. In fact, the outlet’s staff transferred the game to their review units back in October. Not only was the game playable from a previous save file, a new game worked normally as well. But at some point, P.T suddenly became unplayable on the console. It even got its “Playable on PS4” label, which is missing the word “only”, as any game with it can only be played on the current gen machine.
And right now, P.T is not only unplayable on the PS5, it also cannot be transferred to it. One of Polygon’s review units had to be factory reset, while the other didn’t. The one that had to be reset could no longer get P.T transferred to it. To top it all off, when approached, a Sony spokesperson told Polygon that this “was a publisher decision”. Meaning Konami went out if its way to make a game that’s compatible with the PS5 incompatible. The company also went the extra step to make it non-transferable.
While this move with P.T is a shocking one to make, it shouldn’t be surprising. Konami has been going in a strange direction ever since it burned bridges with Hideo Kojima. It’s possible that the company is removing all traces of the game director’s contribution, so many years after the fact. A petty move to make, to say the least. (Source: Polygon)
