Since the card has been making rounds within the leaks and rumor circle for a while, plenty of details regarding the card already out in the open. But for those who haven’t heard of the card, powering the GTX 1660 Ti is a brand-new GPU called TU116 that is designed to deliver a balance between performance, power consumption, and cost.
Being a GTX-class card, the TU116 GPU within GTX 1660 Ti does not come with RT and Tensor Cores which means it doesn’t support ray tracing and DLSS as compared to the higher-end RTX-class cards. NVIDIA is generally targeting the new card at gamers that are still using GTX 960 or lower, as the GTX 1660 Ti offers up to 3x the performance of its Maxwell-based counterpart. When compared to Pascal-based GTX 1060 6GB cards, the GTX 1660 Ti still has the upper hand with a performance of up to 1.5x faster than its predecessor. NVIDIA somehow has decided not to produce a Founders Edition version of GTX 1660 Ti but nevertheless, the custom cards can be obtained from a variety of partners including ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, GALAX, GIGABYTE, Inno3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and ZOTAC starting from today with a price tag of USD 279 (about RM 1137) onwards.
