The patents detail a type of watchband with a built-in clasp mechanism. It opens and closes with the simple push of a button. Making it easy to swap between different watch bands. The second image, on the other hand, shows another clasp mechanism that uses magnets to attach the watch band to the timepiece.
It seems likely that Google is looking to compete with Apple through emulation; the Apple Watch has watchbands that are just as easily removable and replaceable. Further, the wearable has a variety of swappable watch bands, making it a very popular device. As we’ve mentioned in earlier reports, patents are no guarantee that a design will see the light of day, and these patents detailing the Google Pixel Watch are no exception to the rule.
