The Dimensity 9000+ is, as you’d expect, nearly identical to the original chipset that was released in December last year, save for the small performance boost, higher refresh rate screens, and an increase in GPU performance. Technically speaking, the new SoC could rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen1, as the company claimed, given that it is also built on a similar 4nm process, as well as being one of the first chipsets on the market to employ the ARM Cortex-X2 core, at clockspeeds of 3.2GHz. Specs-wise, the Cortex-X2 core of the Dimensity 9000+ is accompanied by three Cortex-A710, four Cortex-A510 cores, and a Mali G710 MC10 GPU that produces to 10% more performance over its predecessor. Additionally, the chipset also supports Sub-6 networks that can also be connected using an inbuilt 5G modem, using the most recent 3GPP Release 16 standard, which enhances the quality of the signal reception and connectivity boost. Moving on, the Dimensity 9000+ also implements 4G and 5G Dual Sim Dual Active (DSDA) compatibility, as well as a 5G UltraSave 2.0 power-saving optimization suite. For more reliable wireless connectivity performance, it also supports Wi-Fi 6E, New GNSS with Beidou III-B1C, and the new Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Other supported features of the Dimensity 9000+ include LPDDR5X RAM, an 8MB L3 cache, plus 6MB of system cache. It also supports MediaTek Imaging 790, the 18-bit HDR-ISP with support for 320MP camera sensors, which permits as many as three camera sensors with 18-bit HDR video recording simultaneously. Lastly, with MediaTek’s Intelligent Display Sync 2.0 technology, the Dimensity 9000+ also makes it possible to handle 180Hz FullHD+ displays while maximizing battery efficiency. Not all that surprising, considering how its predecessor is able to power WQHD+ displays with fluid 144Hz refresh rate panels, while also permitting screens to stream at resolutions of up to 4K60 HDR10+, via MediaTek’s Wi-Fi Display technology, The new MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ will be available in smartphones launching during the third quarter of this year.
