However, the Mate Xs doesn’t support as many 5G frequencies as the previously released Mate 30 Pro 5G though since the foldable phone apparently only support sub-6 5G network. This is based on the information shown on SIRIM’s database, which was discovered by the serial SIRIM database observer, Kevin Ng TK recently: If you already planning to get your hands on the Mate Xs and feel concerned, don’t worry though. When we reached out to Huawei Malaysia for further clarification, the company stated that it will provide software update to allow the device to support more 5G frequency bands in the near future. Given that majority of the 5G test we’ve seen so far is running on sub-6 frequency bands and also the fact that sub-6 frequencies are also part of the MCMC’s pioneer 5G list, the lack of support for low-band and mmWave 5G frequencies on the Malaysian variant might not be a huge issue for now. Just hope that Huawei remains committed to deliver the additional support once the time comes. (Thanks for the tips, Kevin!)
