As opposed to other World Cups through e-sports and real-life sports which usually involves a series of qualifier matchups, Malaysia qualifies to OWC through community votes. These votes also determined the three-person committee that would be managing the respective national teams.

For Team Malaysia, Kenn “Beagull” Leandre is chosen as the squad’s General Manager alongside Sun “megikari” San, and Jack “RagonSEA” Teoh who are now the national team’s Community Manager and Coach respectively. For local Overwatch players out there that are looking to be part of Team Malaysia, the registration for player selection is now opened. Do note that there are certain requirements that you need to fulfil though: While Malaysia might be eligible to compete at this year’s OWC, the team is self-funded though as Blizzard only provides full sponsorship to the top 10 voting countries.
