This is fantastic. Knives Out is a spectacularly twisty whodunit that harkens back to the golden days of Agatha Christie, yet feels completely fresh and modern. One that tickles your funny bone as much as it titillates your mind. It’s one of my absolute favourite films of 2019. The sentiment is shared across the critics’ circle at large as well. The film, which stars Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana De Armas among many others, has a 97% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes (with an average rating of 8.3/10).
But no good film will get a sequel greenlit unless it rakes in the big bucks at the box office, which Knives Out absolutely did. The Rian Johnson whodunit has grossed over $US 156+ million in North America and $US 138+ million outside of North America (including $US 468k in Malaysia), bringing its total to a solid $US 294 million worldwide. This is more than six times its $US 40 million budget.
