Citing people familiar with the matter, Gurman says the new iPadOS 16 feature will allow users to split multiple active apps into windows that appear on-screen – similar to a multitasking experience on laptops or desktop computers. Additionally, he adds that these windows can also be resized and moved around, enabling users to keep track of all of the apps that are running at the same time without having to switch between them one at a time. The current version of iPadOS lets users run apps in a full-screen view, or run two different apps side by side on a single screen. In addition, they can also have a scaled-down version of a third app by sliding it over from the side. Though useful, the current multitasking features on iPad still feel considerably limited and lack a true laptop-like experience – something that Apple has been trying to achieve with its iPad products. Needless to say, introducing resizable app windows will certainly provide a significant boost to the tablet’s overall user experience, which is certainly useful for productivity related tasks. While this may sound like an exciting addition, do keep in mind that Gurman’s report is still unofficial and may end up as inaccurate in the end.
