Priced at RM 34.90 per month, HBO GO provides on-demand access to HBO and HBO Asia original contents as well as its massive catalogue of movies, series, and documentaries. HBO GO subscribers also able to access six live TV channels under the brand such as HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Family, HBO Signature, Red by HBO, and Cinemax.
Subscribers will also be provided with multi-language subtitles depending on contents and the ability to download contents to be enjoyed offline. Not to forget, each subscriber can also stream HBO GO contents on two screens at one time although up to five devices can be tied under one account.
Meanwhile, you must first uninstall the previous HBO Go MY app if you have it on your device. The standalone subscription can only work with the new version of HBO Go app instead which is already available for Android and iOS devices. The arrival of HBO GO’s standalone subscription option is yet another interesting development for the content streaming market in Malaysia which is already quite competitive with existing players such as Netflix, iflix, Viu, Dimsum, and many more all aiming for viewership and subscription from local consumers.
Of course, there are other big names still missing from our market though, such as Disney+ and Hulu which could intensify our market further if they decide to open their service here.
