Hacker group fail0verflow posted its achievement on Twitter. It also claims that the PS5 root keys “can all be obtained from software – including per-console root key, if you look hard enough”. Not exactly to anyone’s surprise, the group did not share information of the method used to achieve this.

That was when the group basically laid the PS3 bare. The group also did the same for the PS4, as well as the Nintendo Switch, according to Eurogamer. As mentioned, the uncovering of the PS5 symmetric root keys means the world is one step closer to being able to mod the console. And piracy would surely follow as another consequence, intended or not.
