According to Anthony Loke, Transport Minister of Malaysia, drivers working for ride-sharing companies – in this case, Grab – won’t have to attend classes physically and can just learn the provided modules from the comfort of their own home. The move is undoubtedly in line with the times, and by making the necessary PSV classes available online, Loke says that the service saves potential e-hailing drivers six hours that would’ve been wasted in physical classrooms.
However, as convenient as all this is, drivers will still be required to sit for the mandatory PSV examination after the classes. Of which drivers will have just one hour to complete. As a reminder, Grab drivers taking the test will be given an RM50 subsidy for the training. Further, Grab will also subsidise the RM70 initial inspection cost, in full. Should your vehicle be three years or older. On that note, you can learn more about the Grab’s initiative to help its drivers via its official page. (Source: Malay Mail)
