In regards to the new widescreen rendering support, Bethesda says that the new feature has been modified to render at 16:9 without any letterboxing. This increases the game’s field-of-view (FOV) by default, allowing the display on your phone to reveal more image on the side and comes with a new titlescreen, intermission, and ending screens. As for the refresh rate, Bethesda has increased the refresh rate cap to 120Hz, for smartphones with displays capable of supporting the ultra refresh rate. We definitely see this feature being of greater benefit to Android users, simply because the current iPhone 11’s display only has a refresh rate of 60Hz.

In regards to the iPhone, Bethesda has also added external controller support for Doom and Doom II to the phone. Specifically, the new update allows either a DualShock 4 or Xbox One controller to be paired to the phone, but only if it is running on iOS 13 or later. (Source: Bethesda, Hot Hardware)
