According to Kuo, the 31.6-inch external display will be using the mini-LED for the backlight. The new iPad and MacBook will also sport full mini-LED displays, respectively. The iPad will reportedly come in two display sizes; 10-inches 12-inches. The MacBook will also have two display sizes, which are 15-inches and 17-inches. Judging from screens size and the premium feature, we can assume that these will be new iterations of the MacBook Pro.

Kuo further explains that the motive to adopt the mini-LED technology is to improve the colour gamut, contrast ratios, high dynamic range and localised dimming. Not only that, he believes mini-LED will allow for thinner display panels and increase battery performance on portable devices. Kuo expects Apple to launch the external display sometime during the second or third quarter of the year, while the mini-LED iPad and MacBook are likely to arrive sometime in 2021. If the prediction is accurate, Apple might debut the external display during Worldwide Developers Conference on 3 June. We’ll have to wait until then to find out more. (Source: 9to5Mac)
