Specifically, Bloomberg reports that the company is contemplating letting users choose their preferred default browsers and email apps. As it is, the default for both are Safari and the Mail app, respectively. And whenever you tap on a link or email address on your iPhone or iPad, these two pop up without you getting a chance to select another.
In the same vein, Apple is considering letting third-party apps like Spotify stream off of its HomePods. Also similarly, the company is also discussing whether to allow users to set third-party music apps like the aforementioned Spotify to be the default music app when launched by its digital assistant, Siri. It’s easy to see why Spotify’s name comes up. After all, there’s some well documented beef between the two companies, which as led Apple to be under scrutiny in the EU. Apple has not come to a final decision on any of these just yet. But if the company does want to go down this route, changes could come as early as alongside iOS 14. (Source: Bloomberg)
