“We are ready to fly and as part of our strict safety policy, we are mandating that all of our operating crew and frontline staff serving guests, including pilots, cabin crew and airport staff, are fully vaccinated to return to work,” AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said in a statement. On top of this, he assured that numerous contactless safety and hygiene measures are also in place, while also fully complying with the standard operating procedures that have been set by the government.
For future flight bookings, AirAsia is advising guests to do online self check-ins via the airasia super app in order to minimise any physical interaction and processing time at the airport. Also encouraged are the use of automated bag drop facilities, mobile boarding passes, and digital payment options. In addition, the group said it is currently rolling out biometric facial recognition technology for passenger verification at key ports, starting with KLIA 2.
Besides that, AirAsia added that it has also implemented a new check-in feature that enables guests to verify any required medical documents online and in real-time before heading to the airport. However, it did not specify whether this feature is added to its app, website, or both. Speaking of which, AirAsia also said it will have its super app’s check-in system integrated with MySejahtera in a later update for a “seamless and hassle-free” check-in procedure. Again, the group did not clarify any further details regarding this upcoming implementation. (Source: AirAsia [Official website])
