The new series was conceptualized around the fact that some of the consumers that purchased Acer’s gaming products are not actually gamers themselves but instead, they bought them because of the products’ high-performance nature. At the same time, the company have also learned that a significant portion of hardcore gamers also utilize professional creative programs.
Hence, the ConceptD series is pretty much targeted at creators, regardless of amateur or professional. Comprising of several desktops, laptops, monitors, and a Windows Mixed Reality headset, they generally meant to deliver a high level of performance while still having pleasing aesthetic elements at the same time and for some products, low levels of noise for their thermal solutions as well.
Among the new ConceptD products that were announced today is the ConceptD 900 desktop PC which is powered by two Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processor and able to support up to 192GB DDR4-2666 RAM with ECC. Also comes standard with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 graphics card, the PC can also be obtained with 1TB solid state drive and two 4TB hard drive although the PC does have 5 toolless storage bays in total. On another hand, there is also the ConceptD 500 desktop PC which is less powerful but still quite a beast with its 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K processor and NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 graphics. Capable of supporting up to 64GB DDR4-2666 memory, it also can be fitted with up to 512GB PCIe solid state drive, 32GB Intel Optane memory, and 2TB 7200rpm hard drive.
It is not hard to differentiate the two ConceptD desktops apart since ConceptD 500 came with white coloured chassis as opposed to ConceptD 900 black colourway. Furthermore, the top part of ConceptD 500’s chassis features a woodgrain pattern and wireless charging area.
The woodgrain pattern also appeared on the ConceptD’s Pantone validated 4K DisplayHDR 1000 IPS monitors, the 32-inch ConceptD CM7321K and 27-inch ConceptD CP7271KP. However, the display panel on the 32-inch model maxed out at 60Hz while the 27-inch model is able to go up to 144Hz.
Acer has also come out with several laptops for the ConceptD series which is led by the ConceptD 9 that features a rotating display similar to Predator Triton 900. Fancy convertible form factor aside, the laptop is equipped with plenty of beefy hardware including 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics alongside a 17.3-inch 4K IPS display. It is also able to support up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and two 512GB NVMe solid state drives in RAID 0 mode. ConceptD 9 also comes standard with a Wacom EMR pen that has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and can be magnetically attached to it.
ConceptD 9 might be too big to be carried around easily, there’s still the ConceptD 7 which carries 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics alongside a 15.6-inch 4K IPS display. Similarly, the 2.1kg can be fitted with up to two 512GB solid state drives in RAID 0 mode.
The third laptop in the series, ConceptD 5 is not as powerful as its two higher-end brothers but it is certainly much more portable at 1.5kg. Powered by up to 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8705G which is also inclusive of an integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics, this model also carries 15.6-inch 4K display as well as up to two 512GB NVMe solid state drives in RAID 0 mode and 16GB DDR RAM.
Aside from having 4K panels, all the displays on ConceptD laptops are Pantone validated and have 100% coverage of Adobe RGB colour gamut as well as maximum brightness of 400 nits. The ConceptD 9’s display also has DeltaE <1 rating while ConceptD 7 and ConceptD 5 offer DeltaE <2 rating. Rounding up the ConceptD series is the ConceptD OJO Windows Mixed Reality headset.
