The BBC reports that workers belonging to the Communication Workers Union have reported a collective 120 cases of abuse. Among them are threats of getting stabbed, other forms of physical violence, and outright murder. And most of them are not even working on 5G specifically. Instead, most of them are just working on network maintenance.
YouTube has already announced that it will be suppressing videos linking 5G to COVID-19. More recently, Twitter updated its guidelines, saying that tweets inciting people to burn towers are grounds for removal. And yet, it looks like the conspiracy theory is still going strong. But measures by both platforms don’t completely remove conspiracy theories regarding the two. This means that more people are bound to come across them. And unfortunately, this also means that there will be more people who will believe that 5G causes COVID-19, for some reason or other. (Source: BBC)
